A Little Flower in The Garden Of God
A poem inspired by the life of St Therese of Lisieux
A Little Flower in The Garden Of God
I’m taking a vow to live as a nobody
because I am a nobody it's true
There’s no self denial
for I don't have a self to fight
She left me for the world of accolades
I long to be a wildflower
and wind up in your hair
I’ll lie around with violets
blissfully aware
I’m singing aloud a song for nobody
because there’s nobody around to hear
There’s no sorrow cry
and no place left to hide
The soul finds rest in the certainty of light
I’m taking a vow to live as a nobody
because I am a nobody it's true
From holy soil I claim my lot
A little flower in the garden of God
Thanks for sharing your "story of a soul". Your reflection of St. Therese is captivating and vulnerable.
PS. That picture above is from a sculpture called The Ecstasy of St. Teresa of Avila by Berninni (sp?). Her religious name was Teresa of Jesus.
Teresa's love for God was so consuming and transforming, that she was observed by her fellow nuns to be actually lifted up off the ground in prayer.
Your St. Therese of Lisieux was named after Teresa of Avila, and as a Carmelite, considered herself Teresa's spiritual daughter. ❤️🙏
Beautifully put <3
