I’ve had a lot of new paid subscribers in the last few weeks and it means so much to me. I just really wanted to thank you all. It was important to me to make this Substack as affordable as possible for anyone ($5 a month) so they could be a part of the community at the paid level if they desired. Most of my posts are free but when I go into more music related stuff I send those out to paid subscribers.
So if you’re a free subscriber and have been wondering wether to upgrade it’s a great time to do so right before I head on tour and will be focusing more on music, as well as keeping up my regular poetry posts and reflections as they emerge.
For all those who are new here, I wanted to share a few posts from the archive. Think of it as a way to get know the grounds, so to speak. I’m really happy to have you here.
Some reading material from the vault for your weekend…
My first post explained why I launched this newsletter which is perhaps a good place to start :
I spoke at length about my experiment of conducting long periods of silence at the Sydney Opera House at a show last year. This was the most rewarding show of my career thus far and you can learn all about it here in these two posts:
Here’s a place where you can meet all the wonderful people already subscribed to this space and introduce yourself! I love to know more about the people who are reading along with me.
Sometime’s I’ll share rough demos or songs in progress, see an example in this post:
I also write reflections from my travels like this recent trip to Oaxaca and all it evoked in me…
Finally, I use this space to share my watercolours and poetry These are two big passions of mine. Here are a couple of posts from that world.
So you’re sorted with lots of reading material for your weekend now!
I send out a series called ‘Sparks’ every so often full of recommendations from my favourite artists, writers and visual wizards so you can get all stocked up on inspiration and ways to spark your own creativity.
Finally, I do Zoom hangs every 3 months with all those subscribed at the Founding Members level (a community called The Koru) if you want to support me in that way and have chances to ask questions in person and maybe get some private live performances if I’m not feeling too shy… :)
Thank you for illuminating my words with your witnessing,
Till next time,
