So, Incubus were one of my favorite bands in my early teens. Somehow all these years later Brandon Boyd and I got connected (through Substack in fact! Brandon has one here) and we got talking about art, music, consciousness and the amazing initiative for artists that he started called Moonlight Arts Collective. He created it as a way for musicians and artists of various mediums to have others modes of expression outside their main one: ‘democratizing art through print making and inviting collectors into the fold at all levels’.
Brandon expressed interest in my paintings and introduced me to a beautiful idea that has stuck with me called Crop Rotation (Joni Mitchell has been known for talking about this). It’s the concept of having multiple art practices that you cycle between through different seasons of your life, they help to support the main work you do but also feed into each other and inform each other creatively helping us to stay inspired through working in different mediums. Especially when one medium feels stuck, you move to another, keeping the soil rich with nutrients by diversifying what grows there.
So I have joined with Moonlight Arts Collective to start selling some of my artwork! As you know I’ve been sharing a lot of watercolors here on my Substack newsletter and it’s been lovely to see how many people resonate with the work. Now you can own one for yourself!
Here’s a video of me sharing the first print I’m releasing as a series of limited editions!
I created this piece in watercolor. I wanted to capture the ‘Mother’ essence of the Mary icon. Although I wasn’t personally raised with religious influence I’ve always been drawn to the image of Mary and the image of the illuminated heart. I see all the great faith traditions as paths to help us live from the heart and access the wisdom and compassion found there. Her nurturing welcoming presence in this image emanates love and inclusion. Maybe it’ll mean something to you too.
If so, you can now buy a print of it! print is 10x13 inches/25x33cm and is individually signed and numbered by me! There are only 50 prints from this edition, so be sure to grab one. The original is also available to buy signed by me.
Along with this piece I also have 4 other original works on paper available now as well.
You can shop my entire collection HERE at : moonlightartscollective.com
Here’s a way you can imagine a piece living in your house perhaps ; )
Another Announcement!!
Today tickets went on sale for 2 headline shows I am playing during the Jacob Collier tour. These headline shows will be a lot more intimate and I’ll be playing a full set and pulling out various songs I’ve never played before.
The shows are in Saratoga Springs, NY on April 18 and Los Angeles on May 23.
Full details below on the poster!
This poster features my new logo designed by my amazing friend David Chang. We met in a pizza shop in NY and he drew it for me on a plate based off the energy he felt when we met.
The grease spots really do it for me. I was deeply moved by the gesture of his lines and the heartfelt spirit in his work - I feel like his interpretation of my name encapsulates so much of what I want to channel with my art. David’s work can be found here, a deeply talented artist and new friend.
I hope to see you at one of these headline shows! For the LA show I will have the amazing Anna Wise play first as my special guest. She’s one of my favorite singers. Here is a beautiful record she put out last year but her entire discography is stunning not to mention mighty collabs she’s been part of with legends like Kendrick Lamar. It’s going to be an honour to have her join me.
You can purchase tickets here :
Thank you for all the ways you support my work,
