May 25, Portland, OR
Honestly, it’d probably be a bit boring to show you photos from the majority of my life on tour. The day-to-day can be a bit repetitive. Here’s a summary of what I see daily:
Tour bunk (a little matchbox-style cubby with a curtain, a phone charger hub, a little basket for sleeping pills and a duvet.)
Dressing Room (home to the infamous ‘Kimbra bomb’ - a term used to describe the utter and complete mess that ensues as soon as I put down my bags.)
Laundry room (smells good at least?)
Backstage featuring posters on the wall (I will say, seeing all the other bands who have played here each night is pretty humbling.)
Stage crew dressed in black (nice guys, not very photographically exciting.)
An empty venue (I actually love this part.)
A full venue (definitely my favorite part of the tour.)
Catering (relatively uninteresting but I’m grateful the food is healthy and tasty.)
Although the days become a bit same-same I’ve noticed something different on this tour. I’ve been altering what I pay attention to. I’ve been opening my eyes more to all the incredible cities I get to travel to.
I’ve come to love walking the foreign footpaths of various North American cities and being taken by small, subtle details in seemingly ordinary things.
I figure a lot of people read Substack newsletters to see the world through someone else’s eyes (and find themselves surprised at how much it looks like the one they see.) So today I’m giving you a little insight into what catches my eye day to day. It’s mostly trees, to be honest. We could all use more time looking at trees.
