When everything feels inconsequential
And I’m sensing all my goddam potential
I think of you and I
With our irises aligning
How we’ve always known each other
and how we’ve always sensed
Exactly what the river meant
when she raged and when she wept
Look at me!
The imminent phoenix rising
I’m flying like an angel
who fell too hard on one wing
Coming to life
In all the ways I thought I could
But I kid myself

Life arrives inside of you
before you know it’s there
And when you notice
well, then, you become aware
and that’s all it is
in the end
