Recently a stranger approached me on the street in the East Village as I was hailing a cab and he said “Kimbra, I just want to tell you how much I love your newsletter.”
“I lost my Dad to a bike accident a year ago and reading your post made me feel close to him for the first time in a while, I just want to say thank you.”
I found it really moving and it made me realize that you never really know who your writing is reaching and more importantly, how it is hitting. I was touched to stumble upon this moment of connection and grateful that my writing had been there for this young man.
I’m curious to know more about my readers, the reasons you’ve been brought here, what’s been moving you so far in my posts and what you’d like to learn more about regarding my journey and process as a musician and writer.
So with that said…
I’m starting a new section of the Substack for paid subscribers which will be titled:
Questions + Ponderings.
I’m not sure I have any answers for life or music or but I love to ponder and truthfully, I think we connect more through shared questions than we do over shared answers. The process of unpacking is usually more interesting to me than the arrival.
So with this in mind, I invite you to ask a question or suggest a thought-exploration you would like me to elaborate on! Sometimes I will answer these as published posts for paid subscribers but for this month I will be choosing favourite questions to focus on for a live in-person Zoom session this Friday on :
March 15 at 5pm EST / 2pm PST / 8am AEST (March 16) / 10am NZT (March 16).
That’s tomorrow so get your questions in quick!
NOTE: The live Zoom event is for those subscribed at The Koru level (aka Founding Members) so you’ll need to upgrade to that tier to attend. To change your subscription type click here:
BUT today I’m opening questions to ALL paid subscribers and if I love one of the questions you ask here, then I’ll just gift you an invite to the Koru Zoom session so you can join the discussion on Friday.
So without further ado, here is the place for you to submit your questions!
