No more promises to make to anyone.
Breaking down the meaning behind my new song "Force Field"
You’ve changed, right down to every word you say.
I’ve changed, cause nothing seems to sound the same.
I’m gonna build a forcefield around myself. I just can’t let you in because you’ll hurt yourself. Be looking out for number one; no more promises to make to anyone.
Last week I released a new song called “Force Field” featuring a good friend of mine and majorly talented rapper, Sahtyre. The song means a lot to me. It’s about putting up walls to avoid the injury of Love, but also about learning how to set boundaries; something I haven’t been terribly skilled at in my life.
Things hurt us along the way and they cause us to shut down. This can lead to animosity, resentment and ultimately a hardening of the heart which makes it difficult to ever Love again. One way to fight against the potential hurt is to create a barrier, a force field of sorts that lets in only the good and rebukes the “bad” energy that our world is so full of.
Is it a healthy approach to pain? I don’t know. It is sometimes the only thing we can do to protect ourselves. We make commitments like: “From now on, I am looking out for myself only. No more leaking out energy to people who drain me. No more promises to make to anyone.”
