This Life and What It’s Like
Dear god
I need to speak
For something new has awoken in me
Truth loosens the tongue
And light forces the eye to see
There's a veil slowly tearing
It's so close I can almost feel it
But pain did form a border
Between all that I knew
That night I lay senseless
It became my constant truth
Joy, that distant memory
That flirts at every corner
Beckoning escape and hopes of chaos into order
Now that I'm by the water
I've lost the will to taste
For fear that heavens’ gift on my lips will go to waste
For pleasure had a home once
Inside my tethered soul
I used to be a temple
Before the world turned monochrome
Colour me once more
Line me in your gold delight
For I no longer remember
This life and what it's like
Thank you for your words, poems and thoughts for all of us.
Thank you for sharing your heart and soul.
Also makes me think of being in a concert hall and listening to Rachmaninoff piano concertos.
